The Airlie Stud is one of the main breeding farms in Europe and in the past five years it has bred or raised the winners of nearly £4,000,000. These notable recent winners include Petrushka, White Muzzle, Alflora, Bobzao, Amfortas, Last Second, Tipsy Creek, Vialli, Docksider and Rose of Zollern.
Desert Story came to Airlie in 1999 and covered a full book of 75 mares during his first season. Breeders who chose to use him include H.H. The Aga Khan, James Egan, Mount Coote Stud, Petra Bloodstock, Joe Clarke, Floors Stud, John Malone and Theakstown Stud. After Docksider's thrilling win in the Gr.2 Hong Kong Mile, we are pleased that he has also joined the stallion ranks at Airlie this year. In 2000 both Docksider and Desert Story both had a full book of mares.
The stud has its own resident veterinary surgeon who is aided by a fully-equipped laboratory on twenty-four hour call.
Airlie is justifiably proud of its experienced and dedicated staff.
The late Captain Tim Rogers built up the Airlie Stud into one of the most modern thoroughbred and commercial enterprises in the world and his widow, Sonia, has continued the very high standards he set. Their son Anthony, also now plays an important role as manager of one of the studs in the group.
